Our composer spotlight is Charles-Henri Avelange!

Charles-Henri is an award-winning composer of music for film and television residing in Los Angeles, CA.

“I never really think of myself as ‘only a musician’ per se, but also as a filmmaker in charge of the music department” he says.

Charles-Henri studied at the renowned private film school ESRA Nice Côte d’Azur in Nice, France. He holds a Master’s degree in sound engineering, sound design, music & film production and business from the Institut Supérieure des Techniques du Son (Higher Institute of Sound Techniques). 

He is the official composer of the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). Additionally, many non-profit organizations have benefited from his music including the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters (W.S.C.F.F), the Friends of American Lake Veterans Golf Course, the Dorothy Jane Foundation and the Volunteers of America.

Charles-Henri has composed music for Microsoft, the University of Washington, the cities of Seattle and Bellevue, and Woodland Park Zoo. He has offered workshops in film composition for The Film School created by Seattle filmmaker luminaries such as director Rick Stevenson (Flash Gordon, Magic in The Water), John Jacobsen (The Artist Toolbox, Around The Fire) and actor Tom Skerritt (MASH, Top Gun).

In 2011 and 2012, Charles-Henri scored the animated TV specials “Hallmark: Jingle All The Way” and “Jingle and Bell’s Christmas Star.”

His most recent work includes creating for the first time in history the official theme for the Make-A-Wish® Foundation titled ONE WISH. Scoring the original book soundtrack for the New York Times Best-Selling fantasy book series THE BLACK PRISM written by author Brent Weeks. The Hollywood Music in Media Awards-winning album THE OEUVRE OF LEON OURY, inspired by the paintings of his ancestor Leon Oury (1846-1929). The one-hour Sci-Fi TV series pilot RENEGADES: OMINARA, Directed by Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager; Star Trek: Picard…) and starring the late Sci-Fi legend Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek: The Original Series; Deadpool…)—in what was her last screen appearance. The Amazon Prime limited Sci-Fi series NOBILITY, starring Doug Jones (Star Trek: Discovery), Chris Judge (Stargate: SG-1), Star Trek’s original Chekov Walter Koenig and many more Sci-Fi luminaries; the score for the contemporary Sci-Fi drama feature film SIMPLE CREATURE starring Russell Hodgkinson (Z-Nation) and the supernatural western SIX GUN SAVIOR starring Eric Roberts (Expendables), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid) and guest starring Tim Russ (Star Trek: Picard)

Our latest artist spotlight is MEGG!

LA’s South Bay born & raised Alt/Pop artist, MEGG, grew up with 4 brothers, one foot in the sand and the other covered in equal parts bubblegum Pop to Punk Rock. MEGG began singing and writing at just eight years old. She has opened for The Used at Musink, performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion as well as the Disney Concert Hall, sang the national anthem at Dodger’s Stadium as well as for LA Galaxy, appeared on NBC’s The Voice and was one of five vocalists to come out of the first graduating class of USC’s Popular Music Performance Program. She is currently writing for a new EP as well as for other artists.

She has been a part of Reel Muzik Werks for almost two years and has written some killer tracks in her time with us. While with RMW, she has written ballads with Logan Pringle and country with our Creative Manager, Zach McMahel. Her diversity has shown through her many collaborations with fellow artists and writers and her attitude of “anything goes” allows for creativity and successful co-writes.

Kayla Lawson

Kayla Lawson is a native Tennessean who has taken on the role of Executive Assistant to Teri Nelson Carpenter after graduating from Belmont University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Music Business early this May. She will be working alongside Teri on Business Development as well as taking over RMW’s social media. Kayla is so excited to be a part of the RMW team!

Katelyn Meyers

Katelyn Meyer is originally from New Jersey and moved to Nashville to study Music Business at Belmont University. Once she graduates in December, she plans on attending law school and pursuing a career in entertainment law. She is continuing her role as the administrative intern that she began back in the spring semester. Katelyn is looking forward to continuing to assist the team as best she can as well as expanding on her learning with the RMW team!

RMW has partnered with India-based band Shor Police to launch Tunes Without Borders, an initiative to bring international music to English-speaking cultures. Founder & CEO of Reel Muzik Werks Teri Nelson Carpenter has made it her mission over the company’s 14-year history to attend industry events across the world and ensure RMW is serving a truly global clientele. She first became acquainted with Shor Police through the All About Music conference in Mumbai and loved their sound, sparking her passion to put them in front of a U.S. audience. 

Their acquaintance was perfect timing, as Shor Police was gearing up to make a new record. RMW and the band decided to team up to form Tunes Without Borders and released the Shor Police single “Monopoly Money” on March 20th to kick off the collaboration. A new single will drop every 10 days until the full Shor Police album, Well, Hello, is released. The project will consist of 9 total tracks along with 9 music videos.

Reel Muzik Werks Turns 14!

On March 1st, Reel Muzik Werks celebrated its 14th Anniversary with an open house at our headquarters in Nashville! With acoustic performances by our own Logan Pringle, MEGG, Christie Huff, and Melissa Carter, RMW had a wonderful time celebrating our birthday with friends and colleagues.

RMW Hosted our 2nd LA Songwriter Camp

In February, RMW hosted our 2nd Los Angeles Songwriter Camp and included participants like Anthony Fedorov, MEGG, Melissa Carter, Christie Huff, Rob Nagelhout, Shelley Regal, Kevin Anyaeii, Derek Hughes, and our own Zach Allen.

New Signings

We have also had a number of new artist, producer, and composer signings this quarter.

Joining our artist roster is Logan Pringle, a west Texas native known for his band Hunters & Gatherers, who also currently serves as the Worship Director for Grace Chapel in Franklin, TN. We also welcome Melissa Carter, who just recorded and released “Wild Side”, which was written during our songwriting camp and will be the theme song in our upcoming video podcast, launching late 2023.

We are excited to welcome Derek Hughes and Rob Nagelhout on as producers who will be working to create master recordings of songs written by our songwriters and artists. 

Derek also works in the EDM top-lining industry with artists like LUX and Adara. He is currently composing his first feature film, From My Eyes. Rob has worked with esteemed engineers such as Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele), Mike Sapone (Taking Back Sunday, Brand New), and Jesse Cannon (The Cure, The Misfits).

Finally, Ryan Martin has signed a composer deal with Reel Muzik Werks to create and deliver 6 fully produced albums. His credits include West End, Ellen, BGT, AGT, Fool Us, Cirque Du Soleil & more.
